I felt like I was reading my words.
I've gone through the endless struggle of body shaming for so many years now. I only see the extra rolls, the cellulite, the stretch marks. The BMI chart and I are hated enemies. My scale sits in a closet so I'm not tempted to step on it. I get dressed as far away from my mirror as possible.
My brain refuses to see anything except for the horrid imagery I've been programmed with. And I agree with you: the world reinforces it.
